If you know that you are going to have a new bundle of joy coming into your life sometime soon then you will understand what a thrilling experience this can be. After all, at times you may feel as though there is just nothing that you can do to contain your excitement and you may also find that you can also spend most of your time getting everything ready as well. One thing that a lot of people worry about is bonding with their baby. They worry that they are never going to have that connection and they also worry that they are not going to be the parent that they always hoped they would be. If you want to find out how to bond with your baby then take a look below.
Skin to Skin
If you can you should always try and hold your baby close. It helps to have your skin right next to theirs as soon after the birth as you can. If you are donating your egg, being a surrogate or having a surrogate then you can find out whatever you need to know on the ConceiveAbilities site about this. Of course, as long as you manage to have skin to skin contact with your baby within the first half an hour, you should have nothing to worry about. If you are not able to hold your baby for any reason then just talk with your midwife to find out when you can.
Chat and Smile
Sure, they won’t be able to understand what you are saying but they will be able to hear your voice and they also have the ability to recognise a smile as well. From the start, try and stroke their cheeks, lean in and get within 30cm of their face. When you do this, they will be able to see you and this is a great way for you to try and bond with them. The more you do this, the easier it will be for you to bond and the faster the bond will happen as well. One thing that a lot of people struggle with is that they find it hard to know when their child is recognising their expressions but this is something that you don’t have to worry about at all because at the end of the day, they always know when you are interacting with them.
Pull Faces
Your baby is starting to learn how their own body works so the more funny and interesting faces you are able to pull, the better. They will soon start to understand them and they can even copy you as well. They may even start to stick out their tongue when you do and this is a fantastic way for you to really show them that you are trying to play. Little things like this can really help them to understand the way that you pull your expressions so that they can then copy so this is something that you have to try and keep in mind when you do play with them.
Sing
You don’t have to read them a nursery rhyme and you don’t even have to be in tune either. You have to remember that you are automatically singing to your biggest fan. If you know that you love it then there is a high chance that your baby will love it as well. They will love hearing the sound of your voice and they will also love to hear the various pitches as well. You would be surprised at how much this can help them to relax and when you do change the pitch of your voice your baby will find that interesting as well.
Dance!
Sure, you may not feel like singing all the time. For this reason, dancing is another alternative. You need to try and relax them and sway with them wherever possible. When you do this, you can easily get them to unwind themselves and the best thing about this is that it is ideal for your own body as well so you know that you won’t have any problems there. Dancing is also known for releasing a ton of endorphins too so if you are really stressed or if you feel as though you just can’t relax at times then this is a brilliant way for you to try and take back control and it can also be a great experience for you and the baby.
Bonding with the baby has never been easier and when you follow these top tips, you can be sure to make the most out of your bonding experience.
