One of my favorite memories is drinking hot tea with my sisters as a little girl. I've always loved tea - there's just something so relaxing about curling up with a book and a warm cup of tea. I'd never heard of Matcha before, so I was pretty intrigued to try it.
So what is matcha? It's a loose, green tea powder that's very fine. It offers multiple health benefits, including 137x the amount of antioxidants found in regular brewed green tea. Increased focus, energy, and a metabolism boost are also included in the health benefits of matcha.
I received a 4 oz packet of Kiss Me Organics Organic Matcha - a culinary grade green tea powder that can be used in anything from baking to smoothies.
Now my mistake was that I didn't fully read the packet before trying the matcha. I decided to try it brewed into a tea. Although the color was a bright, vibrant green and it smelled delicious, it was bitter and pretty nasty. Then I noticed that it is culinary grade - intended to be added into foods and drinks as an ingredient, not to be made by itself.
Along with the packet, you also get a cookbook with 50+ recipes for matcha.
I decided to make my own smoothie, with strawberries and blueberries, and of course - the organic matcha. It was delicious! It had a subtle hint of green tea, while not overpowering the other flavors.
I definitely noticed the increased energy - and as a mom that is a total bonus. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an added health regimen, as I've been drinking smoothies with organic matcha for about a week now and I feel great!
