Twist on Taco Night: Easy Taco Layer Bake Recipe

So you have hamburger meat thawed out for supper, but your kids are yelling, "Not meatloaf again!"  What's a mom to do?

How about a quick, easy hamburger meat recipe that tastes delicious and beats the humdrum of your normal menu?  Introducing one of my favorites:  Taco Casserole Bake!

What you'll need:

1 pound of hamburger
packet of taco seasoning
2/3 cup water
pack of flour tortillas
cheese sauce
shredded cheese
toppings (salsa, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.)

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Brown and drain hamburger meat
  • Add in seasoning and water, and bring back to a simmer.  Reduce heat and let simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until most of the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
  • In a 8" casserole dish (or pie pan, your choice), start your layers.  Begin with a small amount of taco meat, then add a tortilla.  On this, add 1/4 cup of meat, some cheese sauce, and 1/4 cup of shredded cheese.  Repeat layers until you run out of taco meat, ending with cheese.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese is all melted and the tortillas begin to get a little crispy.
  • Enjoy!
