Let me tell you a story. Shortly after my second child was born, we decided to go to the in-laws' house. Of course, the pro-mom that I thought I was, I only grabbed an extra bottle, a couple of diapers, and some wipes. We weren't going to be gone but for a few hours and I had long ago retired the bulky diaper bags when they were no longer necessary after my first. We hadn't been gone for more than an hour when my baby girl spit up all over her outfit, big brother had had an accident in his pants, and I got a migraine. Ever since that day, I try to carry everything we could possibly need, everywhere we go.
That's why I love my new Ju-Ju-Be: Better Be diaper bag. It's lightweight, has a comfortable strap, and has pockets for everything.
Not to mention, it's super cute! I received the Silver Ice pattern, and it just screams spring-time diaper bag to me. The yellow accents stand out against the silver and white, creating an eye-catching, gorgeous bag.
So what makes a great diaper bag, especially when you have more than one kid? For me, a diaper bag has to have a nice, big center pocket for extra changes of clothes; bottle pockets; a pocket for smaller things like teething tablets, gas drops, fever reducer, and a pacifier; somewhere to put mom's stuff like extra ibuprofen and chapstick; and has to be comfortable when you're toting around everything but the kitchen sink. Added bonuses if it's easy to clean and comes with a changing pad.
The Ju-Ju-Be: Better Be bag has all that and more. First of all, it's made with Agion®, a natural antimicrobial treatment that inhibits and reduces the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew. How awesome is that? Now I don't have to worry about setting y bag down on a public bathroom floor, because I know that the diaper bag is going to repel any yucky germs. Oh, and the material contains Teflon® to reduce stains. Kid spills juice on the bag? No problem, just wipe it down!
The best part is that there are tons of pockets. The center area is big enough to put extra clothes for those "uh-ohs." I able to fit an outfit for both kids, plus a pair of shoes in the center area. The outside pockets are holding: (from the top, going clockwise) a pack of wipes, three diapers, a sippy cup, hairbows, medicines, and baby food. And I still could have put more in there if I needed to. I ran out of ideas of what to add to the diaper bag before I ran out of room!
The front outside zipper holds a special "mommy pocket" with sunglass case, lipstick loops, and a pen loop. Plus two zippered pockets … one with mesh so you can see what's inside. There's even a long clip for your keys!
Now, I didn't take a special picture of just the strap, but let me tell you how much I love it. Messenger bag style, the strap has a memory foam shoulder pad for comfort. So important when you're carrying twenty pounds worth of baby stuff on your shoulder. It also has a textured underside to prevent the strap from slipping off your shoulder. I have tiny shoulders that straps are always falling off of, so that was an awesome feature to me! Oh, and everything is attached with metal hardware. Extra stability to make sure it wont fall apart like some cheaper diaper bags I've used.
Some other great features include the exterior bottle pockets, insulated with Thinsulate™ by 3M™ - great for keeping warm bottles warm and cold juice cold. And the changing pad? It's made with memory foam. Yeah, your baby can lay on a cushy, comfy pad instead of a cold, hard plastic changing table. It's made with the same Teflon® material, so it's easy to clean.
I can honestly say that this is the best diaper bag I have ever used. Or seen for that matter. At $120, it is a little pricey, but worth every penny in my opinion. Especially if you want a diaper bag that will last for years, through several kids.
