Missy Mila Volume 1 Review {and Giveaway}

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Designed for 5-8 year old schoolchildren, Missy Mila is an energetic show about an 8 year old girl who retells traditional stories, but with her own "twist."

Volume 1 contains the following "Tales":
The Hidden Princess
The Toupouloupou
Baba Yaga the Witch
 Djoha’s Last Lie
 Piboule and the Bear
 Strabiwolf the Telltale
 the Donkey and the King
The Houses of the Pig Brothers
 Elvis
Captain Bloody-Nose the Pirate
 The Leprechaun’s Treasure
 Aurel the Mocker
 Pancho Pimento’s Riddle

I'm not one for parking the kids in front of the TV all the time, but let me tell ya - sometimes it's an absolute necessity.  Like when I'm trying to get the dishes washed and I don't want the three year old trying to climb over the baby gate.  So when the 7-year-old opened up the package with a new DVD in the mail, I think we were both equally excited.

I popped in Missy Mila, and this is what happened:

Brother and sister, sitting side-by-side on the couch, and not beating each other up?  That was enough proof for me!  I think they remained motionless through the first two episodes, occasionally giggling at Missy Mila's silly antics.  Then on one episode, Sammy decided to get up and dance to the music and made his way over to the TV:

I would definitely recommend the Missy Mila series, as it teaches kids to use their imaginations and get creative themselves, as well as throwing tradition into their lives with the timeless stories that capture generation after generation.
