A Guide To Decorating Your Nursery With Wall Stickers

If you are expecting a baby, chances are that you have been thinking about the nursery a lot. There is not much you can do to prepare for parenthood, other than to read a lot and get advice from others that have been there. Setting up the nursery is something that you can control, and it helps you to feel more prepared for your little one. You'll be busy once the baby gets home, so it makes sense to get the room ready before you go into labor. You can also show off your creative side when it comes to the decor, picking a theme and basing your baby's early years around it.

Stickerscape came about when decorating a nursery, and it has grown over the years. We've been amazed at how some of the themes and decor in these rooms has come together.

As you plan your baby's nursery, these tips will help you incorporate wall stickers into your design scheme.

1. Have A Focal Point

What do you think of when you hear the words "wall stickers"? We aren't referring to the stickers that you used in your youth. A quality wall sticker mimics the look of a painted mural. The biggest difference is that it is much quicker to put on the wall, and you can also take it off when you are ready to switch up the decor. Large wall stickers are particularly amazing, and you can put one on your wall and turn it into a focal point for the nursery. You'll love it and your baby will too. Not only does it look nice, but it can also set the stage for imaginative play. Think, for example, about your little one playing under a spaceship or a large oak tree.

In fact, our Woodland Trees are very popular and have been the focal point of many nurseries. There are so many ways to use the Woodland Tree, and it coordinates perfectly with the other Woodland Friends stickers.

This theme works well for either boys or girls. It comes in particularly handy when a brother and a sister are sharing a room! You can transform the space into something youthful and whimsical that both children can relate to.

Another collection that is popular is the Classic Woodland collection. With trees, foxes and squirrels, you really can't go wrong. There are plenty of opportunities to pick a large sticker that can serve as your focal point. Once you get the printed acrylic sticker on the wall, you will be amazed at the difference it makes in your room. Once you have your focal point, you can then add small touches that coordinate with your theme. We carry some accessories as well, so the sky really is the limit when it comes to what you can do with the room.

2. Incorporate The Stickers Into The Nighttime Routine

We've heard time and time again how our customers love to incorporate their stickers into their little one's bedtime routine, and it warms our heart. The stickers are larger than life, and children really relate to them. Some tell the characters goodnight, others make up short stories about what the animals did that day, and so much more.

Once you have your nursery set up the way you'd like, encourage your child to say goodnight to the characters. Doing so helps foster a sense of security and comfort in their space. When they get bigger, you can use the stickers in other ways as well. For example, put up the ABC stickers and teach your child to identify the alphabet. They are available in different sizes so you can make the stickers fit your space perfectly.

3. Pick Something That Works For Boys And Girls

If you do not know what you are having, select a theme that will work for boys or girls. Even if you do know the theme, you may want to do this anyway, particularly if you plan to have more children in the future. That way, you don't have to make drastic changes to a room you love just because your second child is a girl while your first was a boy.

A little more than forty percent of people do not know the sex of their baby when they are setting up a nursery. A lot of the products on the market are heavily skewed to either a boy or a girl, which can be exasperating when you simply want to get organized. Our wall stickers can work for either gender, which is refreshing. We have both themes and single stickers that are gender neutral. For example, there are watercolor wall stickers that make a statement and look perfect in any type of nursery.

4. Personalize The Space

You can wait to put up your stickers until your little one arrives if you would like. Doing so allows you to see his or her personality and find out the gender, too (if you haven't already). The nice thing about wall stickers is that they are quick to apply on the walls. You do not have to worry about paint fumes or anything else, so you can literally put them up right before the baby goes to sleep one night if you want.

A personalized wall sticker is a nice touch once you settle on the baby's name. It often gives a room that finished look that many people are searching for.

5. Do Not Leave Anyone Out

Do you have another child at home as well? It is not easy introducing a new baby into the family. There is a lot of adjustment that the older child has to go through. They may feel left out when so much of the attention is focused on the new arrival.

Many times, the older child gets a new "big kid" room ahead of the baby's arrival. Consider picking up a few stickers just for them. It customizes their space and helps them to feel included in all the excitement. Depending on their age, the older child may also be able to help pick out a few things for their room. That makes the transition easier, particularly if they are not excited about leaving their former space. Of course, wall stickers are a lot of fun, even if your child is not moving out of their bedroom and into a new one. Choosing one can simply be something special for the big brother or sister.

Hopefully, you can now picture how you want to use wall stickers in your little one's nursery. You can use as many or as few as you would like to create the nursery of your dreams. Regardless of what you are picturing for your space, there is a little something for everyone. Take your time looking through the options. Keep in mind that one of the things we enjoy the most is customer feedback; we love to hear what you have done with your wall stickers, so please do not hesitate to drop us a line and tell us more about your ideas.
