Accidents happen. Life-threatening tragedies can come in the form of natural disasters, school shootings, bombings, vehicular accidents, and a whole slew of other horrible ways. North American Rescue's Bleeding Control Kits and Public Access Bleeding Control Stations offered through SSI Guardian help to Stop the Bleed in emergency situations.
When it comes to emergency bleeding control, every second counts. (Click to Tweet)
The Stop the Bleed campaign, launched by the White House and the Department of Homeland Security, aims to provide training for everyone in what to do in an emergency bleeding situation and to give everyone the tools to save a life.
Did you know that the time it takes for a casualty with significant arterial bleeding to die is measured in seconds to minutes? How fast can an ambulance get to your child's school if there was an emergency bleeding situation? Do the school personnel know how to handle a bleeding emergency?
These are very real questions that parents face, and the kinds of things that I worry about as a mom. Not just at school either, but anytime my children are away from me. Accidents happen, and companies like SSI Guardian are aiming to make sure everyone has access to bleeding control kits.
Recently, western North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia experienced some pretty bad wildfires. I live here, so it was all too real to us the danger of the situation. For weeks we prayed for rain to clear out the smoke in our area, and avoided driving because of the decreased visibility. A lot of people were in serious car accidents, had their homes catch on fire, and faced other tragedies.
An incident involving life-threatening bleeding can occur anywhere. Be prepared.

How to Stop Bleeding
If someone has been seriously injured, call 911 immediately.
1. Apply pressure with hands to the bleeding site.
2. Apply a dressing to the wound and press with firm, steady pressure.
3. Apply a tourniquet if bleeding doesn’t stop. Place the tourniquet 2-3 inches closer to the torso from the bleeding.
