When somebody says ‘bedroom decoration for teen girls’, many things might spring to mind. Perhaps a pink fairy princess room? Or one covered in posters of a boy band? Or maybe one full of shiny, glittery things?
However, it could also then be the case then when somebody says ‘bedroom decoration for teen boys’, you draw a blank. It’s understandable if you think discovering and deciding on bedroom theme for boys can be harder.
Don’t worry though. Here are four ideas for the theme and furniture to get you started, no matter what your boy is into.
Music-themed
Most teenage boys are into music of some kind. Perhaps your son is into rock bands or punk bands, or maybe he prefers rap and hip-hop. Whichever genre he is the most interested in, making a music-themed bedroom is a great idea. Furthermore, because music is such a lifelong love for many, you will get some real longevity out of their room. He may not want to change it for many years to come, which of course is great news for both your budget and your free time!
Graffiti-themed
Is your son artistic? Does he love skateboarding or other activities like this? Then how about a graffiti-themed bedroom? It’s a bold choice, but your boy might love it! You can find free graffiti fonts online, and then either print them out and trace them, or copy them. This theme is something he can help with, and will probably want to! Use spray paint over any stencils as it’s much easier and will save you time. If he will also need to use his room for homework, keep the wall where he works bare. Too much on the walls might distract him when he needs to focus.
Travel-themed
Does your boy love to travel? Or does he dream about doing a job one day that allows him to travel, like a pilot or an archaeologist? Then feed this desire and dream with a travel-themed bedroom. How about an entire wall covered with a map? A lamp shade depicting a globe? A real life globe he can have on display and study. You can get some with bulbs in the center so that he can use it as a bedside lamp also. A bed cover with a suitcase print, or passport print, would add a great finishing touch.
Nautical-themed
Your son doesn’t have to be a wannabe sailor for this theme to work! Nautical is a great idea for a boy’s bedroom? Why? Because the presence of a theme helps hold the design of the whole room together. But the theme is not super obvious and in your face. Plus, boys tend to love the color blue! Use white for the finishing touches, not things that will dirty easily, like the carpet or bedding. A few well-positioned strips will add a subtle nautical touch. For younger teens, how about a border depicting anchors? You could even replace his normal chair with a deckchair as an added treat! A few black birds drawn simply onto one wall will add a great finishing touch.
