Starting New Family Traditions for Easter

This is a sponsored post, written by me on behalf of HoneyBaked Ham.

Easter is one of those holidays that just bring out that kid magic.  We're not a very religious family, but the fun of Easter baskets and special treats - those are the memories that your kids will hold onto forever. With Easter, we forgo the parental family dinners that we usually deal with at the holidays, and make our own traditions special with our little family.  It's early this year (April 5th!) so start planning now and have an amazing day with your family!

The best part of having your own family is that you get to create new memories and new traditions that you know your kids will hold on to and then pass along to their children.  Like the picture above.  Every year, when the kids get all dressed up in their Easter best, I love sitting them in that rocking chair for a picture.

But aside from taking adorable pictures to see how much they've grown from year to year, I've also learned a thing or two about what traditions work best, and what makes a holiday easier.  Here are a few tips to making new Easter special and making new traditions!

Make it About the Kids

Remember when you were little and when Easter rolled around you were expected to sit quietly and look pretty while the grown-ups over planned everything?  Forget that.  Plan fun little activities to keep your little guys entertained, and everyone will be happier.  Looking for ideas?  Dying Easter eggs, making keepsake bunnies, and having an egg hunt are all fun ways for the kids to enjoy Easter!

Avoid the Stress

If you want to make a holiday run smoothly, keep things simple.  Avoid the stress of over-planning, overstretching yourself, and over thinking.  Easter is a holiday, one where you should be able to enjoy special time with your family - not get worked up over a burnt ham or timing dinner plans.

Maybe that's why I like HoneyBaked Ham so much.  You just pop into one of their stores, pick up a ham and/or turkey and some of their heat-and-serve sides, and dinner is something you don't have to worry about!
