Since Father’s Day is this weekend, I want to tell you a bit about my fiance (and the father of my children) Matt. Matt is a stubborn kind of creature, set in his ways. He has conviction, and will argue with a wall if he truly believes in something. He has a unique sense of humor, the kind that could be seen as mean to any outsiders, but never fails to make me laugh. He’s responsible and hardworking, the kind of man who will do ten hours of manual labor each day just to ensure that his family has what we need. But most importantly, he loves us.
Matt isn't the sweet sappy kind of man, and compliments of any kind are usually few and far between. Get him around his kids though, and that teddy bear personality comes out. Watching him play with the little ones makes my heart swell – there is nothing sweeter than seeing a real smile light up his face when they’re all in the living room being goofballs.
He calls the kids “little soul suckers” because as soon as they start getting sleepy they want to snuggle him and that’s it for Matt. Their warm snuggly bodies and sweet smelling baby hair will knock him out every time.
One way that shows how amazing he is: No matter how tired he is after work, he comes through the door ready to help me with the little ones. While I cook supper, he’s roughhousing with them and making them laugh. He brings them into the dining room as I bring plates to the table, and he helps entertain the baby while I try to scarf some food down. After dinner, he works with me to tackle the bedtime routine – with baths, snuggles, and books.
To make things easier in the evening, we put the two youngest ones in the tub together. Without Matt, it would be a recipe for disaster, but he helps it go smooth by taking care of Sammy while I get Kaya. To make their baths even more special, he’s always patient and lets them play for a while – even when it means he’s getting soaked and bored.
AVEENO sent us a complementary bottle of their AVEENO Baby Bath and Shampoo, and it makes bath time even more pleasant. It has a soft scent that just smells clean and suds up really well. It isn't harsh on their skin, and the tear-free formula means that the kids can splash to their little hearts’ content because it doesn't hurt when they get it in their faces.
The AVEENO Baby Daily Moisture Lotion keeps their skin baby-soft but isn't greasy. I love that it's hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, so I'm not worried about harsh chemicals exasperating my son's eczema. I've used it on my own dry legs, and I'm excited to report: they're soft and supple now and I'm happy to go our in shorts!
