I received promotional items to host this party
I was so excited to learn that I was chosen to host a Disney Side Home Celebration! When I received the party kit in the mail, it was full to the brim with all kinds of awesome stuff to have a great party, including Mickey Mouse cups, plates, and napkins; Disney tattoos and stickers; a Disney vacation planning DVD; HP photo card packs; Craisins; Measuring cups from ABC's The Chew; and so much more - all neatly packed into a fantastic hostess gift: a large piece of rolling luggage from American Tourister Luggage. I knew this was going to be so much fun!
My first idea was to throw a great Disney party for my son's daycare class. What three-year old doesn't love Mickey?? We had the opportunity to host their Valentine's Day party, and I brought all of the decorations and games... but then the weather delayed everything and I wasn't able to get permission from the parents to take pictures. They still had a fantastic time, with yummy cupcakes and lots of Mickey Mouse, but I felt like I wasn't able to do enough to actually write about it here.
That's when an amazing thing happened. Out of the blue, my nieces' adopted mother contacted me. My three precious nieces whom I haven't seen in over 7 years wanted to reconnect. Without sharing too much, they were placed in foster care when they were one and two years old - and me only being 17 at the time, there was nothing I could do. I love those girls though, and they were like my own babies.
So with that in mind, I decided to throw a Disney Princess Party, and have them come!
Aren't the beautiful? And of course, my step-daughter had to be a little ham ;) It's what makes her so much fun!
Sammy wanted to dress up like SpiderMan, and then refused to take off the crown because he wanted to be a princess too. That's ok, boys can be princesses if they want to!
We had cupcakes with edible glitter and fancy cups, because glitter and glam is what being a princess is all about!
Here's everyone together, with the princess-y decorations. My sister, her husband, and their two girls came, as well as my three nieces, their mom, Lexi, Sammy, and Kaya. We had a blast, being fancy and eating yummy food while catching up on so many missed years.
And even though there wasn't an official "costume contest," I think Ariel definitely would have won: She looked every bit the part of a gorgeous princess!
Here is a close-up of the Disney Princess chandelier that I used to spruce up the streamers:
And we had Princess Punch in fancy glasses.
And I even got crafty (so out of my element!) and made Tiara Pizzas for the girls.
In all, I think it was a huge hit, and I am so happy I got to show my #DisneySide with such amazing family
