Hyland's Baby Review

Thanks to Hyland's Baby for providing their Teething Tablets and Infant Earache Drops for this review!

I've mentioned before - Kaya is a horrible teether.  There is no making this kid happy with cold teething rings, wet washcloths, or massaging her gums.  I'm pretty sure that she is possessed with some unholy demon every time a new tooth is trying to break through.  We're talking tears, screaming... sooo many nights have been spent with me pacing around the house, doing the "shh shh" bounce.

Thank goodness for Hyland's Baby Teething Tablets.  I know my baby girl is in pain, and it kills me to see her crying.  I'm scared to give her too much acetaminophen or ibuprofen, because she is so little and I don't want to damage her liver.  As a momma, it's my job to worry about what kind of ingredients my little ones are exposed to.  That's why I turn to Hyland's Baby homeopatic products first for any kind of small ailment like teething, earaches, or colds.  In my experience, I've found that nothing gets a baby back to their smiling, happy self as quickly or safely as Hyland's Baby products.

Easy to use, you just dissolve 2-3 tablets under baby's tongue up to four times a day.  They dissolve almost instantly, and don't have a medicine-y flavor.  As a matter of fact, they really don't have a flavor at all.  (Yes, I've tried them!)  And they work.  Seriously.  I was a little skeptical when I first read the ingredients, because how is something that has been diluted that much going to work??  I don't know how, but they just do. About 5 minutes after doing her little baby bird thing and getting her teething tablets, she calms right down and turns back into the happy, sweet little girl that I'm used to.

Seriously, they work so well that she automatically turns into a baby bird as soon as she sees the bottle. I'm not kidding, she opens her mouth and leans her head back and just waits until she gets her teething tablet.

I love that Hyland's Baby Teething Tablets do not contain Benzocaine, an ingredient commonly used to numb gums in other teething gels.  With my panic disorder, one of my worst fears is when my mouth is numb because I feel like I can't swallow.  I can't even imagine how that feeling would be for a baby! Benzocaine has also been linked to a rare, but serious, disease known as methemoglobinemia, which is another reason to choose homeopathic medicines when you can.

Instead, Hyland's Baby Teething Tablets contain Calcarea Phosphorica, a mineral that supports teething; Chamomilla, a botanical that relieves irritability; Coffea Cruda, a botanical that helps with sleeplessness; and Belladonna, a botanical that relieves redness and inflammation of the gums.

The other product that they sent us was the Hyland's Baby Infant Earache Drops.  Intended to be used in conjunction with a physician's care, they claim to help relieve symptoms of fever, pain, irritability, and sleeplessness associated with earaches.  Earaches are one of those things that are commonly just written off as teething, as there are many of the same symptoms between the two.  Unfortunately, Kaya had both last week.  There was a bunch of fluid behind her eardrum, causing her a lot of pain.  The doctor prescribed an antibiotic for her, and also recommended we try Hyland's Baby Infant Earache Drops.  Just 3-4 drops every 4 hours, and that's it!  I definitely noticed a difference in her right away; she was rubbing her ear less and nowhere near as fussy.

Of course, I have to add this disclaimer:  I am not a medical professional.  The words above are solely my opinion on a product that my daughter's pediatrician recommended.  Be sure to talk to your doctor before giving your child any kind of remedies, homeopathic or not.  For more information, check out Hyland's website.  You can also connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!

I received the aforementioned products in order to facilitate an honest review.  All opinions are my own.

  2. I had never heard of Hylands teething tablets. I wish I had! My youngest never really liked teethers or cold rags either. He just chewed on his fingers and that didn't seem to help much.

  3. I have heard so many amazing things about these tablets, but I've never actually used them on either of my boys. But Emery is a beast these days (even with an amber necklace) so I might have to invest in these bad boys soon.
