Ode to Snow

Oh snow!
How I loved you when I was younger,
before I knew...
2 hour delay?
oh, no school!
Those words had a different meaning
when I was a child.
Now I have my own, and I'm shaking my head in denial.
Please don't close the school
for a light dusting of snow.
The roads are fine!
We're close enough to walk!
They'll get up, put on their shoes and socks,
and then they'll drive me crazy until the sun goes down,
No break for Momma when there's snow in the clouds.

  1. Thanks for sharing your poem. It's amazing how a little bit of snow can bring the country to a halt.

  3. Not even a parent and I feel that way about it most of the time these days. I do enjoy a good snow and think it can be very pretty. It also definitely makes the world more hushed to be out in it somewhere. I would just prefer that it happen over one of the several long holiday weekends or something that we have during this time and not intrude upon the rest of life.

  4. Cute! In northern NY we have snow but the real problem has been the cold. It was -35 here!!! That kind of cold hits you right to the core!
