Clueless Momma's Top 3: Traveling with Baby

Yesterday we just got back from an over-night adventure to the fiance's brother's house.  It was only a two hour car ride, and then staying the night, and we headed back home before noon.  Shouldn't have been a big deal at all, but with three kids... there were definitely a few things I wish I had brought from home. So I decided to share with all of you my Must-Have List for Traveling with a Baby:

Play Yard

First, and probably most important, is somewhere that you can set your baby down.  Whether for sleep, playtime, or just so you can run out to the car for more diapers, a play yard is awesome for traveling.  Kaya has the Graco - Travel Lite Portable Crib, Jacqueline  and it is my favorite piece of baby gear that we own.
When she was a newborn, this is what she slept in.   It worked perfect as a bedside bassinet, as it is compact and easy to move around.  I would put her in here when she fell asleep and then wheel her to the bedroom when I was ready to go to bed.   Now that she's bigger and sits up on her own, I have removed the bassinet part and she uses it as a playpen.

You'll have to forgive the messy house - like I said, there's 3 kids! But I wanted to give you guys an idea of the size.  When she's not using it, the Travel Lite Portable Crib fits right under our entertainment center.  The best part is that it folds up easily and comes with a bag, so traveling with it is a breeze.  Definitely my number one choice for a playpen!

Diaper Bag

This is another one of those essential must-haves, especially if you're going to be out of the house for more than 5 minutes.  Think about it - you have to have spare diapers, wipes, extra clothes, a jacket in case it gets chilly, a few toys, snacks, and extra bottles/formula.  Yeah, that wont all fit in your pocket.  So a good diaper bag is really important if you're traveling.  I like the Gerber Giraffe Diaper Bag because you can also get the matching cooler bag - perfect for carrying extra bottles. Plus?  It's cute!

Car Seat/Stroller Combo

These are awesome for traveling, as the car seat snaps right into the stroller and ta-da! you're ready to go!  We have the Evenflo Journey Lite Travel System - I love the "Polka Dottie Purple" print:
