Co-founders Greg Duffy and Aamir Virani initially developed Dropcam thanks to a neighborhood menace. Greg's father desperately wanted to figure out which of the local dogs was "fertilizing" his yard. He began hooking up IP cameras, but couldn't get the system to work just right. He also found that storing video on his hard drive was not an easy, scalable or secure solution.

    My brother would love to have something like this. He has a little Green Cheeked Conure parrot that is very much attached to him and his wife. It would be nice for them to have a video camera like this which would allow the to talk to him when they are away from home. I love the 2 way talk feature.

    I learned that you can drop in live and talk directly with people and pets! So handy for my dogs.
